Project Life 2013 | Week Thirty-One

Hello Week Thirty-One!  (July 28-August 3)  This week was so fun and I love how it turned out!  I only added a few of my favorite photos from my beach trip because I made a mini album that will go into much more detail (more on that to come)!

For the title card, I printed a photo 4x12 and cut it in half.  I used a circle sticker from paper source and stamped on the dates and added the  week number.  Most of the other photos are of me and Brandi during the first 2 days of the trip.  The cork circles are from studio calico and the teal ribbon is left over from the studio calico December daily kit from 2012.  Pretty simple.

The left side is from the last half of our trip.  Brandi and I visited the sand dunes.  I used the ampersand paperclip from the SC August kit.  On the night pier photo I used Ali Edwards Just Awesome stamps.  (This white ink I used Colorbox and it was awful and super runny and wouldn’t  dry even after several days.  It now resides in my trash can.)  The other stamps I used was from the add on stamp set thru studio calico in June. I also used the adventure transparency from the July project life kit.  The bottom of this page is structured just like the top of the right page.  I took a photo and printed it out in 4x12 and cut in half.  I so love this photo and took it using the panorama setting on my iphone.  Love it!

Week 31, you were AWESOME!

Week in the Life 2013 | Intro

I am so very excited about participating in Week in the Life again.  (September 9-15).

Last year was my first year doing Week in the Life and I absolutely loved it.  I love to go back to last year’s book and see how different life is a year and a half later.  I’m sure like most people, it feels that each day is similar with no or slight variation between each day.  But when looking through last years book, all I could see are the differences.  And my goodness, there are a lot.  I’m sure that if you asked me how this year varies from last year during Week in the Life, I probably wouldn’t be able list very much off.  I might have remembered that dad’s cancer was coming back, but that’s probably all I could have told you.  But because of this project I can list so much more.  And isn’t that the purpose of projects like these?  To remember.  To document where you are currently.  To embrace the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The little differences include things like my desk in my room is now downstairs where my new craft area is and I have this cool antique shelf made out of old doors that replaced my desk in my room.  I have a new laptop and a new phone.  The black car isn’t running right now and we own my grandpa’s car.  The couple that was getting married in a few months is now married and are new parents.  (I took their maternity photos, documented their son’s birth, and took newborn photos for them.)   But it’s the big differences that took me by surprise.  I didn’t realize that so much changed and how it has altered my life, and thankfully, mostly for the good.  My dad is healthy.  My grandmother is no longer with us.  I have a job and have had it for over a year now.  D has entered into my life.  I am a member of our Junior League.  Each one of these is minor when you think about them individually.  But when you line them up next to each other and realize that all that happened in a year’s time…wow, that’s a lot.  And it’s such a great accomplishment.

If you are interested in this project, I suggest you check out Ali’s blog and how she embarks on this project.  I hope you will join along!

Project Life 2013 | Week Thirty

Hello Week Thirty! (July 21-27)

This week I went to my first Royals Game of the season.  I added our ticket stubs too.  The quote is from a stamp set that was an add on for studio calico.  The stamp on the green photo is from Elise Cripe’s add on from a few months ago through studio calico.

The right side is pretty simple.  I added some quotes that I liked from From the Universe.  I added some paper fillers from the July Project Life kit from Studio Calico.  I had a 4x6 pocked that I didn’t have anything for so I used another paper from the July kit and added sequins from the August kit.  I haven’t had time to experiment with the sewing machine and paper products so I just used some washi tape to keep the sequins from falling out.  So far so good!

Project Life 2013 | Week Twenty Eight and Twenty Nine

 Hello Week Twenty-Eight!  (July 7-13)

For some reason this week was nothing special so I don’t have much to show for it.  I added some words that were said through out the week. My Right Now photo and some ordinary things.
To divide the weeks, I used my 12of12 post, which was actually part of week 28.  I so loved this month’s grid.
Hello Week Twenty-Nine! (July 14-20)  Again, another slow week.  The new Matt Nathanson CD came out, I met a friend for ice cream, I moved my scrapbooking stuff into the basement.  (I love working down here with more space to move about.)  The blurred box is about work.

Items Used:
Core Kit : Seafoam
Plastics : Big Pack of Design A

Here and Now

You’ve probably noticed that I’m playing catch up on the blog.  I got extremely behind in sharing my 52 week project and project life and now I’m paying for it.  I hope I’m not boring you with this posts that took place last month.  While my blog is currently living in the past, I’ll jump forward and give you an update in the here and now.

Life has been so hectic and crazy, full of exciting things, but it has worn me down and I am seeing the side effects.  I have developed a little cold, probably from lack of sleep and pushing myself too hard.  I’m just thankful it waited until after Jenny’s wedding and during a week where I don’t have too much planned.
Who am I kidding?  Not too much planned…This week I’ve had a to-do list a mile long.  Edit baby photos, doctor appointments.  Yes, plural, as in more than one, and not cold related.  Babysitting.  Needing to go to the store, post office, bank.  The list keeps growing.
Summer has officially ended.  Mom went back to work on Wednesday to start another school year.  But to someone who works full time, summer never really felt like it began.  Sure, I got to take time off to go on some trips and man was it needed.  But I miss the slow, lazy mornings that summer always seemed to be.
Dad is doing really well.  I can’t believe that it has been one whole year since his second transplant.  He is in the process of getting one year check ups and everything still looks great.  I completed my 12of12 for August a few days ago and it is crazy to see how different it was from 2012.  In 2012, dad was about a week into the transplant process, living at Hope Lodge, visiting the cancer center every day to get bags of potassium and cocktails of drugs that no one should ever have to take.  In 2013, dad was sitting on the couch, making silly faces at me, and obnoxiously popping bubble wrap from a box that delivered to our house earlier in the day.  Wow, what a difference a year makes.
Abby still begs to play with bubbles…every.single.night.  Earlier this week she was a little stiff from running down the driveway and yet she still insisted on chasing bubbles.  That dog…  I still remember her excitement right after she saw me come home from my trip to the beach and again when I got back from the wedding.  Sure pure joy. Dogs are the best!  And I sure do love mine.
D is getting much better at getting used to my photo habits.  He is being exposed to them a lot more frequently these days.  I think he learned a lot faster than mom and dad, but you should have seen his face when I took a photo of our ice cream this week.
I’m still working on my projects.  52 week is up to date, minus the sharing aspect.  Project life is 6 weeks behind.  I plan to get caught up this weekend.  My 101 list is moving right along.  My goal is to be half way done with the list at the half way date mark.  I have 9 more to complete before October 10th.  Now I just have to get down and do them, like watch the last 2 movies on the Best Actor list that I’ve been putting off for a good month or so.  Is it sad to say that I’m surprised that I’m pretty much on track?  Maybe I will actually get this list done by 2015!

Project Life 2013 | Week Twenty Seven

Hello Week Twenty-Seven!  (June 30-July 6)

The beginning of this week we were still in Minnesota on our little family vacation.  It was so nice up there.  My favorite part of the trip was going to Duluth.  I hope we plan a trip again for a longer stay.  (Even Abby enjoyed it there too!)  The left side will be this photo cut up, I just haven't had time to print it off in large format.

I had so many photos I wanted to include from our trip to Minnesota, so I included them in this 2x2 coin pocket sheet.  I love the look of all these photos with a few see thru embellishments.  I printed these photos through persnickety prints.

The right side of the spread included the rest of the week and mostly 4th of July events.  There was a shopping day in there and some movie tickets.  Oh, and my baby girl turned 12.  She is getting so big!

Week Twenty Seven
July 1, 2013

The week we spend in Minnesota.
The week where we remembered.
The week where we forgot too.
The week where we got to be just us.
The week where Abby turned 12.
The week where life couldn’t have been more perfect.

Learn Yoga

I pulled mom with me to try a yoga class a few weeks ago.  It was a beginner class and not too difficult, but my goodness it still made us sweat.  After the class we looked at each other and both said that we loved yoga.  We both felt rejuvenated and stronger and hope to add it into our routine.  I can’t wait to go back again!

OBX & VA 2013 | Part Three

Our third and last day at the beach couldn’t have been more perfect.  When we got up we headed straight for the beach.  The sun was shinning and the air was fairly cool.

After a day at the beach, Brandi and I adventured out to the sand dunes.  We had so much fun.

Our last stop was the pier and then we headed home, back to Virginia.

We arrived back home around 4 am.  It was a dreary day so we couldn't go out on the boat (bummer!)  Instead, we had a slow day recovering before we went out to celebrate Brandi's 24th birthday.  There were about 40 of us and we rented a party bus to take us to a club.  So fun!

This is what 16 years of best friends looks like!
