Royals Game

Two Fridays ago, Dakota and I had a date to the Royals Game.

It was miserable hot, with no wind.  And even though the Royals lost 7-5, they put on a good game.  It was by far the best game I've every been to.

The best part was that it was buck night and firework night.  So fun!  We will definitely be going back at least one more time before the summer is over.

Make Fruit Pizza

I'm so glad I put this on my summer bucket list because we don't make this every year.  I'm not sure why that is because it is so delicious.  It is the perfect fresh, summer dessert!

Our Photo Excursion in KC

Dad and I got invited to join in on a photo trip in Kansas City to photograph Kauffman and the view of the skyline from  Liberty Memorial.

The Kauffman building, where the ballet and other performances happen.

It was fun to watch the city turn on at night.

The darker the sky got the more lights came on.

The sunset wasn't very vibrant, but it was magical to watch.
Kansas City, I kinda love you.

City Market

Two weeks ago we went to the City Market in Kansas City.  I had heard great things about it when I lived in KC during my college years, but I never got to experience it.  I'm so sad it took me this long to see what everyone was talking about.

Unfortunately, we got there near the closing hours and vendors were starting to close up shop.

But we managed to find some great deals!

We plan on going back again later this summer.  To spend the entire day there looking around and having lunch at the local restaurants around City Market.

A Night in KC

Week Twenty Five
June 17, 2014

We were given the opportunity to join a photo excursion in Kansas City last Tuesday night.
It was with the same person who lead the photo trip to the Flinthills in April.
Once again, I learned so much.
And I got to capture this moment with my dad.

Have a Yard Sale

We had a garage sale and did alright.  Mom sold a lot of plants.  Some people even asked to have them out of our garden!  I wasn't sure how well my clothes would sell, but I made close to $40 off of them.  Not too shabby, considering I wasn't expected that much.  I still have a lot more to sell though....

So glad someone was able to find treasures that we out grew...(.both physically and metaphorically).

Happy Father's Day

Week Twenty Four
June 14, 2014

Happy Father's Day to the most incredible person I know.
And to the one who is guaranteed to make a face like this whenever I ask for a photo.
I love you.
I'm so lucky to get to call you daddy.

Around Here

- I booked my hotel for a friend's wedding in Minnesota in September.  So can't wait.

- I had a photo shoot last week capturing baby Evelyn come into this world.  This was my second delivery photo shoot, and I must admit, I really like doing them.  This time, I didn't know the soon to be parents, but they let me be a part of a very special day and I was honored.

- Abby had been having some issues.  She was sleeping all day long (even more than a normal dog), she had big green eye buggers, and had ear problems.  We were conceded this was just part of old age, but we took her to the vet to see if he could do anything.  Sure enough, a steroid shot, some antibiotics, and ear drops later she is back to her normal goofy self.  So happy she is doing better.  I missed seeing her little tail wiggle when she greets you.

- Work has become beyond frustrating.  I recently changed departments and while I like what I'm doing (so far), the way this change took place was incredibly unprofessional.  I'm trying to be patient, but I might be making some major decisions with my current employer.

-We had a garage sale last weekend and did pretty well.  Mom sold some of her perennial plants that she already dug up and separated.  Some ladies actually asked her if she would dig up some flowers from her garden....and she did.  She also had someone buy three of our hasta plants that are full grown.  So crazy.

- I need a vacation in a big, bad way.

Four Years

Week 22
May 28, 2014

Four years. Doctors were surprised dad was still alive and {somewhat} functioning. He was given 20 months to live and we have had four years with him. May 28th will always be one of the most difficult days in my life. But most importantly, it's a day of remembering and a day of celebrating. Remembering how fragile life is. And celebrating that there is still life to live.

Around Here : May 28th Photos

Every year since dad's diagnosis I try to get family photos.  I try to take a day that altered my life (for the worse) and make some good come out of it.  Last year we didn't have the chance to take photos on the exact day, so I made sure we did it this year.  It was quite the adventure.  So much laughter, which is exactly what May 28th needed.

My little family of three, I love you so much.

May Goals

Instead of setting intentions for the year, I am setting 3 goals to accomplish each month.  Goals that will create moments.  Goals that are attainable.  Goals that are things I need to get done.  Goals that will make me a better person.

1.  See more shows this month | Mom and I saw two shows this month.  The first one was on the first on the month.  We saw  Ballroom with a Twist and watched Kym Johnson and  Tristan Macmanus dance.  The second show was on the 11th.  I took mom to see the Kansas City Ballet perform Cinderella for Mother's Day.  It was an absolute blast.
2.  Plan National Park family vacation | This trip has been postponed for later this summer as we wait to see the next step in dad's treatment plan.
3.  Celebrate four years.  | Had an absolute blast celebrating the last four years with my dad.  Years that weren't guaranteed, but years I'm so so grateful for.  Read year four here.

June Goals:
1.  Get Bailey family photos in a book
2.  Farmers market
3.  Do 2 pinterest projects
