Project Life 2013 | Week Twenty Four

Hello week twenty-four!  (June 9-15)  This week was pretty simple and what a normal week in our lives looks like.
The left side is pretty basic.  The HER insert was something I saw on pinterest.  I thought I’d print it off, but instead I recreated it with my handwriting.  The blurred part is a story about work.
The top of this page is a photo that I cropped into a 4x12.  I love the look of large photos cut up.  But I also like how it created a banner like look for the page.

I also added an insert for my 12of12 post.

Project Life 2013 | Week Twenty Three

Hello Week Twenty Three!  (June 2-8)  This was a fun week!
The left side is mostly things that happened during the week.  A little work story.  A painting project.  And a hair trial.  The photos of me and mom getting our hair done make me laugh.
I added an insert of the Sunday newspaper.  There was a huge article about Cinderella's Closet and all the photos in the article are mine.  So cool!  (However, I was not credited for the photos....)

The right side is all from the weekend – Saturday to be exact.  Mom and I went to our local farmers market where we bought some herbs and I bought some succulents.  I love these little guys and can’t wait to watch them grow!  On the herb photo I added a stamp from Studio Calico’s add on kit for June.

Dakota’s friends got married this weekend and he was a groomsman.  I used a folded card from the Seafoam edition and added a story about the wedding.  To add a little extra, I used the triangle stamp from Studio Calico’s add on kit for June.

On the flying bird photo I stapled some see thru elements from Studio Calico’s May Project Life kit.  I love how it added to the photo and made it pop.

Project Life 2013 | Week Twenty Two

Hello Week Twenty Two!  (May 26-June 1)  I had the entire week off from work and yet didn’t really accomplish anything.  But that’s ok.  Sometimes you need that!
I added my OLW monthly card.  I like adding these in my book as a reminder on what I’m working on this year.  One of the days I hung out in dad’s room and watched a movie.  Clearly we both had better ideas and took a nap.  Mom snapped this photo.  She loves how we are in the exact same position.  And I love that she took this photo!
The right side is mostly just photos.  I had a maternity photo shoot with a teacher that works with mom and added some of the work I did.  Maybe I’ll have more photo shoots in the future?!  We will see!

Project Life 2013 | Week Twenty One

Hello Week Twenty One!  (May 19-25)  This was a super fun week because one of my best high school girlfriends got married and I got to be a bridesmaid on her big day!

The left side is my week in a nutshell.  Bits of life.  Normal.  The big thing that happened this week was that we had my grandparents estate sale.  It was hard seeing their life spread in front of me.  Just another realization that they are gone.

I added a lot of inserts this week.  The first one being bits and pieces of the wedding day, from my perspective.  The top photo is us girls at the rehearsal dinner.  My ‘Team Bride’ shirt we all got as part of our gifts.

I also added this folded card to share a sweet story about a conversation between mom and D.  I used the folded card for privacy purposes.  It is something I want to remember, but something that I don’t want everyone to know about.  These cards are perfect for just that.

The back side of the insert is photos from the reception.  Some very fun moments!  The blurred out photo is me and my friend Kenzie doing our bridesmaid duties and helping the bride go to the bathroom while in her wedding dress.  It was too funny not to share (in my book).
The right side is a large 12x12 photo cut up.  The photo was taken by the wedding photographer.  (Why I’m so late getting this posted – I’ve been waiting forever to get a hold of the photos!)  I might be adding another insert of the professional photos from that day.

Currently…

Feeling like I’m getting caught up on life.
Thrilled that my Minnesota scrapbook is finished (and so soon too!)
Organizing my scrapbooking area in the basement and
Filling up all the little storage spaces.
Scanning lots of photos for Jenny and AJ’s wedding slideshow and
Finishing up the book where guests can leave special notes to the couple.
Finding joy in the simplicity.
Happy to see my room is finally clean and staying that way…at least for a little while.
Needing to get through the last 2 Best Actor Oscar movies so I can cross it off my list.
Listening to lots of Matt Nathanson music and being
Glad that his new album is finally out!
Savoring the long summer days.
Laughing as Abby chases bubbles in the back yard and
Watching mom water all the summer plants that are
Growing in our yard.
Welcoming a new adventure and
Counting down the days.
Planning what to pack for my next trip.
Excited to see the beach again. It has been way too long.
Praying there won’t be any sharks that happen to stop by that week.
Looking forward to spending some days
Sitting in the sand and
Soaking up the sun.
Thinking about all the memories this adventure will bring while I’m
Enjoying getting caught up with my best friend.
Incredibly grateful for this opportunity!

July Nineteenth

Dear Grandma,

It has been one year since you’ve been gone.  And wow, so much has happened in this past year.  It seems like even more time has past

Your children are still working out little kinks in splitting up your estate, but for the most part it is almost finished.  Just a few months ago we had your estate sale.  I try not to think about seeing all of yours and grandpa’s stuff spread out before me.  You saved everything and a lot of the items were things no one wanted anymore.  But it was items that were you and grandpa; items that told your story.  And now they are gone.

One of the biggest changes was saying goodbye to Holley Circle.  Oh how I’m going to miss that place.  Vacationing there when I was a small girl.  Setting off fireworks in the summer.  Christmases in front of the large picture window.  Living there for 6 months while our house in Virginia sold.  Laughing as Abby crawled up on the sofa and sat behind your head during thunder storms.  How music always seemed to be a part of your lives, even well after you couldn’t play the piano anymore.  These things are now only memories, stored away in a safe place that I will hold onto forever.

I miss you grandma.

Love, your granddaughter,

Megan

Project Life 2013 | Week Twenty

 Hello Week Twenty!

The left side of the week focused mostly on Mother's Day and my last Junior League meeting of the year.  The flag banner of the photo of the 3 of us and the star embellishment on the photo of my mom is from the May Studio Calico Project Life kit. The 'MOM' wood letters are from my December Daily kit from last year.

The purple sheet of paper is from my last league meeting.  Each person received a piece of paper that others can do shout outs too.  I got the sweetest note from my new committee chair.  It made my day!

On the left side of this page I printed off this post from my blog.  This page also had some odd and ends from the week.

12of12 | July 2013

1.  So not a morning person. A shower was definitely needed.
2.  The downside to being the only one in the house who works in the summer—I’m up before everyone else in the house.
3.  Breakfast.
4.  At work.
5.  Came home for lunch to find dad watering all the flowers.
6.  Leftovers for lunch.
7.  It is too nice outside to go back to work.
8.  Back at work.
9.  Miss Abby.  She was really wanting to go outside and chase bubbles tonight.
10.  Pretty hydrangeas.
11.  Me and D.  We went on a double date with his friends and went to dinner and then played mini golf.
12.  Goodnight world.

Paint a piece of furniture

I found this awesome piece of furniture in my grandparent’s basement.  It is a cabinet that has a fold up table top.  Perfect for spreading out during craft time.  In the future I would like to have an entire room just for crafting, but right now I don’t have the space and my supplies have crowded my little corner in my bedroom, so in the basement I went.

I started with sanding the table down a little bit and then painting.  I went with white (it would have been fun to paint it some funky color) paint because I’m not sure what my future craft room will look like and I know white will go great.  This table took many, many layers of paint.  The handles were really old and beat up so I got some new ones at Lowes.  I think I might have preferred something a little more decorative, but these were the only ones that would fit the holes that were already there (and I didn’t want to have to make new ones.)  But I’m happy with these ones.  They are more like the original ones and I think it give the table a clean, crisp look.  So happy to have this little project marked off my list!

Kristin and Owen Get Married!

Week Twenty One
May 25, 2013

On May 25th, I got the honor to be a part of one of my best girlfriends wedding day.  She married the perfect guy for her and I am so happy for their new life together.

Note:: I was originally waiting until I got to see all the wedding photos before I picked the one I wanted for this project.  But I still haven’t seen them and I’m ready to get up to date with my 52 week project and my Project Life posts.
