43|52 : 52 List : Thirty Two : 12 Dates : October : Chief's Game

Week Forty Three
October 23, 2016

I went kind of big for October and we saw the Chief's live!  I bought some pretty amazing tickets.  It was a fun experience, but I think we are more of watch football from home kind of people.  We don't yell much and there were lots of very drunk people.

So thankful to spend days like this with him!

The Power of a Photo

It was October 2013, the day before his 60th birthday.  He was getting ready to leave for Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to talk about options.  I think there was some kind of movement going on in his cancer.  The place I worked at at the time gave me an hour lunch break and I used to come home and have lunch with my dad every day.  He waited to have lunch with me before making the trek north, all by himself.

I had snuck a homemade birthday card in his car where he usually would keep his phone and wallet.  I knew he would find it eventually.

I made sure I had my phone on silent camera mode, he probably won’t like that I was taking a photo.  I gave him a hug as I was taking a hundred photos, hoping one would look alright.  Then we got in our cars and drove our separate ways.  It took me 15 minutes to get to work and I bawled the entire way.

I remember this one, tiny, insignificant moment so clearly.

What I would do to go back there for a moment.

Just for one little hug.

Happy birthday, daddy.

52 List : Twenty Nine : 12 Dates : September : Brad Williams Show

For our September date we saw comedian Brad Williams.  We watched his show on tv and loved it.  When I saw he was coming to our town, I knew I had to book it.

I actually ended up seeing this show twice in one weekend.  I originally booked the Friday night showing (that was the date D picked) and then a few months later we found out he had to travel for work that week and would be back really late Friday night.  So I booked another set of tickets for Sunday evening.  Mom ended up going with me to the Friday night showing.  She was so happy because she was jealous when I told her this was one of our dates.  It was a win/win all around!

One Year Anniversary Trip : Canyonlands National Park

Canyonlands and Arches are very close together so we mixed it up and some days saw both, depending on our schedule and what we felt like seeing/doing.

After Page, we drove another 4ish house north to Moab.  On the way there, we stopped in the southeastern side of Canyonlands to split up the drive a little.  This park is split into 3 sections that aren't connected.  This section is called Needles.  Our main reason for coming was to see Newspaper Rock.  And then we ended up doing a small hike.

Two days later we went into the northern section called Island in the Sky.  We had a big day hiking the day before and wanted to take is somewhat easy.  So we saw Mesa Arch and did a trail (I think we did Grand View Point Overlook).

Happy one year of being married to this guy!
