I Want to Remember…


I want to remember embarking on many projects this year.
I want to remember being in awe of the performances in the movie Les Miserables.
I want to remember the relief in knowing dad got the ok to come home from the hospital.
I want to remember Brandi’s trip to MO and all the laughs we shared.
I want to remember my first date with Dakota.

I want to remember my 24th year.
I want to remember trying knitting.
I want to remember hearing the awesome news that dad is in complete remission!
I want to remember getting my first flowers ever from a guy, and they were from Dakota with a note saying he hopes this is the first of many Valentine’s Days.
I want to remember being snowed in.

I want to remember my date night with mom.
I want to remember the hug from the sweetest girl who gave me a hug because I helped her find her prom dress.
I want to remember that one warm day in March that was perfect.
I want to remember going to the zoo with the Montgomery family.
I want to remember celebrating Easter, not with blood family, but with the family of friends we have made.

I want to remember having a reunion with my college friends.
I want to remember jumping on the trampoline with Erin and Jackson for 3.5 hours.
I want to remember the fun date nights.
I want to remember mom’s birthday and celebrating her 58th year.
I want to remember buying my fisheye lens.


I want to remember Abby’s pure excitement while chasing bubbles.
I want to remember the strange thrill from riding a roller coaster even though I’m not a fan of them.
I want to remember standing with one of my best friends as she gets married.
I want to remember what 3 years looks like.

I want to remember laying in bed talking about trains with dad on Father’s Day.
I want to remember seeing a live birth for the first time and capturing the moment Samson Lane was born.
I want to remember what it felt like to go back to Minnesota after being gone for 15 years.
I want to remember how beautiful Lake Superior is and all the memories we made there.

I want to remember being in awe of fireworks.
I want to remember Abby’s 12th year.
I want to remember going outside every night after dinner so Abby can chase bubbles.
I want to remember the sound of waves crashing.

I want to remember the sunny day spend on the beach.I want to remember running on the sand dunes with Brandi
I want to remember celebrating mom and dad’s 34th year of marriage.
I want to remember seeing Jenny and AJ’s faces when they first saw each other on their wedding day.


I want to remember the float trip with Dakota and his sisters and family.
I want to remember participating in Week in the Life.
I want to remember having my first surgery and 25 stitches.
I want to remember saving a life and adopting Rory with Dakota.

I want to remember life is still fragile as we begin a new phase.
I want to remember picking pumpkins.
I want to remember watching Rory jump and play on Sunday mornings.
I want to remember dad's 60th birthday.

I want to remember the colors changing.
I want to remember dad driving me and mom to Lawrence, KS in the ice to see Joshua Radin and Matt Nathanson in concert.
I want to remember getting me meet Joshua Radin and getting a photo with him.
I want to remember Thanksgiving and everything I'm thankful for.

I want to remember the excitement of starting a new December Daily book.
I want to remember making silly faces with dad.
I want to remember decorating the Christmas tree as a family.
I want to remember the magic of Christmas.
