35|52 : KC Zoo

Week Thirty Five

August 27, 2016

Our company picnic was at the KC Zoo at the end of August.  So our family and friends came along for the day.  So fun!  Below are a few photos from our day.

^^ The polar bear.  Unfortunately, we didn't see him swim.  He made a quick appearance to take the (fish?) bucket back into his cave.

^^ So happy she spent the day with me.  Wish we lived much closer.

^^ That little monkey was only a few months old.  He was so fun to watch playing in the yard.  Just like a little kid.

^^ D held our nephew during a bathroom break and he crashed in his arms.  He knows a good napping buddy when he sees one :)

Family Vacation: Part Three: Glacier National Park

One of my absoulte favorite parts of the trip was going to Glacier National Park and staying at the Glacer Park Lodge.  It was absolutely beautiful there.

As we pulled into the lodge parking lot we were awestruck that we were actually staying here.  A building built out of trees back in the early 1900s, still with no air conditioning, elevator, or tv.  It was a little piece of heaven.

^^ Our first stop on the Going to the Sun Road

^^ Big Horn Sheep by Logan Pass.

^^ Saw goats outside of the park at Goat Lick (Yes, that is the name lol.)

(We didn't have internet/phone service for a lot of the trip.  I surprisingly, really enjoyed that.  It was a great reminder that I need to put down all devices and enjoy life.  However, I was very, very thankful we had service in the middle of Wyoming when we our car broke down.  And I was very, very thankful our car broke down on that Saturday, rather than the late Friday night drive, out in the middle of nowhere, with no service.)

Family Vacation: Part Two: Yellowstone

On Monday, we got up early and went to Yellowstone.  When I checked the weather in the morning, it said thunderstorms all day long.  But someone looked out for us and we only had cloudy skies until the late afternoon.

We drove on scenic highway 191 and watched the Gallitan River flow along next to our car.  (Which was pretty cool since that is one of the rivers they used to film A River Runs Through It.)

 ^^Oh hey Mr. Grizzly.

^^ Old Faithful

^^That water was FREEZING!!! I've never felt water that cold before.  Crazy cold.

^^ This big guy created quite a commotion right next to the main road through Yellowstone.  And all he wanted to do was sleep.

^^Just taking a stroll down the highway...no big deal!

 ^^Mammoth Springs

There was a big rain storm in the evening while we had dinner.  We thought it stopped for good, but when mom and I came out from a bathroom break it was raining again.  And then we watched this double rainbow form over Yellowstone.

Rainbow are so significant to our family.  And the fact that we saw this beauty on our trip...breathtaking.  One of my absolute favorite parts of the trip by far.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday September 4, 2011

It has been a while since I've done a Scavenger Hunt Sunday post.  The last few weeks have been insanely crazy.  Two weeks ago yesterday my uncle died in a bicycle accident.  And the following week I was busy with the visitation and funeral.  Plus, on top of all that, school started that same week. Crazy, right?

I was excited about these prompts this week, but I think some of my photos might be a stretch.  So bare with me :)

Stairs
This might be a little bit of a stretch, but the 'stairs' of the piano.

Macro
I was about to leave for KC to have lunch with my friend Mallory when this little guy jumped on the roof of my car.

Clouds
There aren't any clouds in this photo, but you can tell they must be there to get this insanely crazy lightning bolt.

Abstract
N/A.  While writing this post I realized I accidently deleted my photo that I had in mind for this prompt.    Awesome!

Week 35
Part of my 52 week project.  Abby and I playing with her baby.

Also.. could do me a HUGE  favor?!?
For my marketing class I have to have a marketing blog where I talk about  various articles, commercials, etc.  I will be graded on how often I post and the content I post, but I will also be graded on how many people I can get to follow my blog.  So, I am asking you, pretty, pretty, please could you follow my marketing blog?!  You only have to follow it till January.  Please!
My grade depends on it!
And I will love you forever!
Thank you!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday: July 17, 2011

Black and White
This is Sasha.  She lives with a family that I babysit for.  While I was watching the baby, Sasha came inside for a visit and to cool off from the unbearable heat.  (I wouldn't blame her.)

Reflection in Glass
Not wild about the car in the background, but I like the photo.  Plus I had fun wondering around downtown with a good friend.  We even met someone that owns a building and let us up on the roof for to take some photos.  Very cool experience.

Headlights
I forgot to take a photo of headlights so I had to run out real quick to get a photo.  Abby didn't mind the spontaneous car ride :)

Seeing Double
The door handles to the church my parents got married in.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday: July 3, 2011

I had no idea what to do for X-Ray so I decided to not do it and do Hidden and Farm.  Hope that's ok :)

Pop of Color

Crossing Thresholds
Don't really like this one, but I didn't know what to do.

Toy
Charlie--the best stuffed animal ever

Hidden
It took Abby a little while to figure out where her bone-bone went when I thru it and then it took just as long for her to figure out how to get to it.  Mom had to help her out in the end.

Farm
This is from the archives back in November.  The business fraternity I'm in toured the Shatto Dairy Farm.  We milked cows and got to pet the new babies.  I loved this little guy--reminded me of Abby.
