^^Today is this one's 25th birthday!  Fun fact, our birthdays are 4 day apart.  He doest know it yet, but last night I made him his favorite cake.
^^This weekend we are planning on going out to my favorite restaurant for my birthday with my parents.  That is assuming we don't get drenched in snow on Saturday.
^^I'm taking some 3 month old photos for my hair dresser's baby.  I'm excited, but a little nervous because I don't have much experience in photographing babies.  I hope it goes well and I get some great photo.
^^It's Super Bowl weekend and D and I are going to a little party with some friends.  Can't wait!

Last Saturday, we celebrated our one year anniversary at the same restaurant we had our first date.  I'm so excited to see where this journey will take us.

Twelve months ago I was pacing the house from nerves.
Twelve months ago I took a risk and went on a blind date.
Twelve months ago he took me to an Italian restaurant.
Twelve months ago I was surprised at how easy the conversations flowed with someone I had just met.
Twelve months ago I was unaware of how much this person would mean to me.
Twelve months ago I had hoped that this would be my last first date.
Twelve months ago he told me I was different.
Twelve months I made one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Project Life 2013 | Week Fifty One and Fifty Two and End Page

Hello Week Fifty One and Fifty Two.  I forgot that I combined these 2 weeks, I'll have to change the dates on the circle sticker.

 This week I was sick again.  So not fun!  And we got a ton of snow.  It was so beautiful.  Unfortunately, I didn't really get to see the snowfall, I slept 3 days straight.

I had 2 inserts this week.  One was our Christmas card.  I thought it made more sense to add it to this week rather than the week we sent (most) of our cards out.  

The second insert is this post.  I created a template in photoshop and added 4 photos for each month.  

The back of the insert has all the text.  I really love how this turned out.  

The right side is mostly from Christmas day. Such and awesome day!  

I wanted this book to contain all of 2013, so on the very last page I added the last 3 days of the year.  We had (what is left of) my dad's immediate family over for dinner on New Year's Eve.  It was a very nice little celebration.  We don't get together very often.

That is the end of 2013.

Around Here

I have worked at my job for the last 20 months and this week was the first time I've ever gone up in one of our lifts.  We have been doing inventory this past week and I was too short to reach some of the parts on the shelves.  I didn't go very high up, but at least I can say that yes, I have in fact been in one of the machines that I help build…or at least buy some of the parts to build.

On Wednesday, I came home to find dad in a sea of ornament boxes.  Apparently he's had enough of Christmas.  He is probably right, it is time to take down the tree, but I think I could have celebrated its glow just another week longer.  

This weekend I have a girl date with my friend Jenny and our moms.  We are taking our last card class at Archivers before they close for good.  I'm excited to see them, but so sad that on of my favorite stores is closing.  For the last 3 years we have taken the Christmas card class and 2 years ago we did the Valentine's Day card class.  It has been a favored tradition and I'm so sad that it will have to end.  We will definitely have to think of a new tradition that the 4 of us can do.  Any ideas?!

Moment

This is my second year doing One Little Word and this year my word is MOMENT.  About a month ago I was cleaning out notes on my phone when I came across this quote.  "Collect moments, not things."  It immediately resonated with me and I knew my word was to be moment.  I know this word is not a verb and that in itself can often make this project a little difficult.  But I also knew, without a doubt, that this would be my word for 2014.

I noticed while doing my December Daily project last month that there were a lot of moments that happened.  Moments that made my heart smile and fill with gratitude.  They were just ordinary things and yet they made my life a little bit better.  They weren't moments like celebrating a holiday, they were moments like laughing at the camera.

In 2014 I want to simplify my life.  I don't want to collect clutter (both physical and emotional) just to have it.  I don't want to buy something just because I can.  I don't want to do something I'm not whole heartily committed to.  I want to collect moments.  I want to buy things that will actually enrich my life.  I want to be aware of what is going on around me and to be really be in the moment.  I want to be present.  I don't want to show up for the big things in life, I want to be at the little things too.

December Daily 2013 | Day 17-End

DAY SEVENTEEN | Today we went a little bit crazy and pulled out the tripod to get a night Christmas light photo…from the middle of a somewhat busy road.  I’m sure the people who drove by thought we were crazy, but we did end up getting a pretty sweet photo.  And the adventure was a little fun too!  Afterward, we drove through the holiday park and then drove around the neighborhoods looking at Christmas lights.  Just another one of my favorite things about this season!

DAY EIGHTEEN | I have a bunch of stickers that I am wanting to get through so I looked up a holiday quote and wrote it out using letter stickers.  Unfortunately, I still haven’t made it though a single letter packet and I had to open a new one for this page, but I love the look of it anyway.

DAY NINTEEN | For today, I wrote a few things that I’m loving about the holiday season.  (I did this last year too, such a fun thing to look back on through the years…and on the 19th too.  It just might become a tradition for the day.)

DAY TWENTY | All is fun until someone gets sick….  Today wasn’t too bad, but I wasn’t feeling the greatest and therefore have no content for the day.  The next few days is when the cold got bad…

DAY TWENTY ONE | Still sick and sleeping 16 hours at a time….

DAY TWENTY TWO | I love big snowfalls and unfortunately we got one right when I was too sick to get out of bed and watch the snow come down for a few minutes.  Thankfully, I had mom take a few photos of the snow.  She did a great job!  I love the twinkle lights under the snow on the bushes.

DAY TWETNY THREE | Our annual secret santa with my high school girlfriends actually happened on the 24th, but who is counting.  I’m so thankful for these girls.  My only wish is that I would see them more often!

DAY TWENTY FOUR | Nothing says Christmas Eve quite like presents under the Christmas tree.  I love the quiet calmness that always seems to happen this night.  It is perfection.

DAY TWENTY FIVE | Christmas Day!  This took a few pages, but that's ok.  It was Christmas and such a great day!  We celebrated our family Christmas in the morning.  Around noon Dakota came over and we exchanged gifts.  Today was marked 11 months of dating.  The second page was about celebrating with Dakota's family. The third and forth page was about celebrating with my family.  Dad wanted to try new recipes for Christmas dinner so I added the recipes into the book.  Dinner turned our great too, by the way!

Hello 2014!  I can’t believe you are already here. 

I wanted to share a few things that will be changing on here:

I'm going to try to do an around here series.  I want to share more about what is going on in our lives.  Last year this blog seemed very project driven, and while I like projects, I want to keep it real and document what is happening this year.  Capture the moments.  

I'm still keeping with my 52 week project, 12of12 project, One Little Word, and Project Life.  I will continue to share my 52 week project each week and my 12of12 project each month.  In the past I didn't really share my One Little Word and this year I plan on writing a post each month to share my goals.  As for project life, posts will be monthly instead of weekly.  I want to cut back a little on some of my posting and that is one that will be taking a hit.  Each week will still be documented and shared, you'll just get a lot more weeks in one sitting.  I'm also going to do a Currently series each month.  I've done a few of those in the past and really like them.  

I have a few posts to do to update my 101 project.  Be sure to check them out here.
