Project Life 2013 | Week Eleven

Welcome to Project Life Week Eleven!

This weeks song was Give Me Love by Ed Sheeran.  My Ed obsession is still going strong.  I listen to at least one of his songs each day and have yet to get tired of them.  And to be honest, I’m surprised this is only the 2nd song card by him.  (I’ve been trying really hard to get other songs into the weeks.)

Under the date card I added a worry angle note card that came from the lady who I bought my door shelf from.  (She gave both me and mom a little angle statue with this poem on it.)

This week we got a glimpse into spring with 2 days of 75 degree weather.  I love my snow and snow days but after having those 2 days I’m so ready for spring.  It was heavenly!

The right side with my 12of12 insert.

Since the weather was so nice, mom and I went on a few walks and mom and dad did a little yard work.  This page has a lot of bits and pieces from our 2 wonderful days outside.

This week I also had the Cinderella’s Closet giveaway and wrote out a post I put on facebook about helping a girl find the perfect dress and how she gave me the biggest hug.  It was awesome!

Project Life 2013 | Week Ten

Hello Project Life Week Ten!

Sorry for getting this weeks pages up so late.  We had some complications with our internet modem which then caused some issues with our wireless printer.  It's still not fixed completely, but at least I can print now.  Anyway…

This week I added a little something different; the “This Week” card.  I wrote down one highlight from each workday day.  I like getting words into this book too and not just letting the photos speak for themselves.  I also added my One Little Word March intention filler.  Another way I’m making my OLW more present.  I also included my work signature (blurred out) because I became a buyer this week!  Next to that are some receipts I added from buying baby shower and bridal shower gifts.  This week’s song was Los Angeles by Peter Bradley Adams.  (I’d never heard of this song before, but I came on the Ed Sheeran Pandora radio and I really liked it.)

The right side.  I went with mom to use a gift certificate she got for Christmas to get a massage, her first.  There is a little info about our trip next to the photo.  Her massage was in KC so we made a date of it and did some shopping and had dinner.  I added a photo of us having dinner and added a tag from the store I did most of my shopping in.  Another big thing that happened this week was that I bought some new furniture…you know, for my house that I don’t have.    I got a great deal on a little bookshelf and then found this piece and fell in love with it.  I will be cleaning out/rearranging my bedroom to make room for this lovely piece.  (Part of the cleaning out/rearranging will be involving making a scrapbook/craft center in the basement.  It’s going to be so nice having everything together rather than a few things in my room, some things under the dinning room table, a little more stuff in the basement, a piece or two in the kitchen…I can’t wait to see that space evolve!)  The bottom 2 pockets include a Note from the Universe that I connected to and the other pocket is one of the many photos I took while photographing the Cinderella’s Closet Fashion show at the mall. (These turned out so much better than last year!  I love seeing that there is some growth in my photography!)

And that is week ten!

Transitioning

Week Twelve
March 20, 2013

I’m in the process of making a craft center in my basement.  It is going to be a slow process, but it is progressing so that’s all I can ask for right now.  I have moved the majority of my scrapbooking supplies into the basement and have a table from my grandparent’s house that needs to be sanded and painted.

But despite all the clutter and slight craziness I found myself needing a little crafting time.  Not the kind where I got out the basic necessities, but the kind where I got out the paint, made a complete mess, and found random pieces in my stash that I completely forgot.

It was wonderful and slightly healing.

I can’t wait till I can get my space set up and where everything has a home.  A place where my creativity can come and go as it pleases.

Project Life 2013 | Week Nine

Welcome to Project Life Week Nine!
The left side is manly documenting 2 events.  The Oscars and Day in the Life.  I used this freebie, Oscar cards to document the event and on one of the cards, I typed who the winners were this year.  (The Oscars are kind of a big deal in our house.  Mom and I are watching every movie that won in Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress.)

I’ve been having a lot of inserts lately and wanted to keep things simple, so I added my Day in the Life right into the spread.  I used Ali Edwards’ template and altered it a little bit to fit the pockets.  I really like how it turned out.    I’ve noticed my Day in the Life seems to be more about documenting my day in words rather than in photos and I’m ok with that.  (My 12of12 is more photo based.)  Week in the Life will be a different story and I’ll try to be about equal in both photos and words.
The right side is just bits and pieces.  Some more photos (also taken on DITL).  A little card about dad’s aunt passing away.  Things that were said around the house—I need to get more of these added into the book.  And of course, the weekly song quote card.  This week’s song was Daylight by Maroon 5.

01.  Morning leg hugs.  I’m not sure why or when this started, but it makes me laugh every time she does this.
02.  Getting ready for work.
03.  Hello beautiful sunrise.
04.  Sun shinning through the windows at work.
05.  Wide open spaces.
06.  Lunch.  Left over Famous Daves.
07.  Red needed gas.
08.  Back to work I go.
09.  More work.
10.  Listening to Ali Edwards’ chat while going through my open order reports.
11.  Came home to 18 sets of new dishes.  Dad liked them and they had a sale at Kohls.  There are 6 colors that my parents picked out and 3 people in our family, so now each person has their own set of plates in each color.  Did I mention we don’t host many parties at our house and we have about 5 other dish sets we could use?!
12.  Hello beautiful sunset.

Life Lately

I still have yet to adjust to daylight savings time.  I don’t know what it is, but I seem to never notice when we gain an extra hour of sleep, but losing an hour—it might as well be more like 5.  It probably doesn’t help that I’ve been sleeping poorly too, which just makes the 6AM wake up (which really feels like 5) that much more brutal.

Junior League has taken over my month of March.  It slowed down quite a bit for the holidays, but is gearing back up for prom season.  Cinderella’s Closet (we provide girls who can’t afford to go to prom with dresses, shoes, and accessories for free) is definitely underway.  We had a fashion show at the mall on the 9th and are getting ready for our first give away on the 16th, which I plan to work the entire 6 hours.  (Probably won’t go well with the lack of sleep issue…)  We have another give away in April, but I can’t go to that one.  I hope I get almost all my hours in by the end of this month!

Work is good.  2 weeks ago I was moved up to a buyer position and have taken over 50+ suppliers.  It has definitely been an adjustment, but one that I’m welcoming with open arms.

I usually don’t share things like this because (a) there is usually nothing to share and (b) I’m usually pretty private about this anyway, but there is a boy that has come into my life which has made life a little more busy, but in a good way.  I’m excited to see where this might lead!

I’m still working on all of my random projects.  My 101 in 1001 is going much slower than I’d like.  I’ve only marked off 1 thing this year, but I’ve been working a lot on all the multiple stuff that will lead up to finally marking something off.  (Like watching a ton of movies so I can cross off watching the Best Actor movies—I’m so close!)  And I know I’ll be at least completing 2 items off my list this month. At least I’m making progress.  I still love the 12of12 project, but I can’t wait until the 12th hits a weekend and I can use my DLS camera.  I still can’t justify bringing it to work.  Plus everyone would think I was crazy for taking a photo of my keyboard once a month.  My 52 week project is alright.  I feel like I’ve been slacking a little on that project and I need to get the creativity going again.  It’s also hard coming up with something new (creative wise) when I’m in my 3rd year of doing this project.  But I’m excited for the spring and spending some quiet time outside with my camera.

Still working on my Project Life album and loving it!  I’m hoping to create a more accessible scrapbooking area in my basement so I can let those creative juices flowing and hopefully schedule a time to work on this so I’ll stay up to date.  I’ve been doing pretty well, but I’d like to be better, especially with the summer months and weddings coming up.

Speaking of weddings, the one that I’m going to be in in May is under way.  I helped Kristin with her invitations the other day and her bridal and bachelorette parties have been set.  I’m also picking up my dress this week too!  Hope it fits! For the other wedding I’m in in August, I’m starting to plan her bridal and bachelorette parties, the happy duties of Maid of Honor!

Dad is doing well!  If you missed it last month, we found out that he is in complete total remission!  He has never been this healthy since his diagnosis almost 3 years ago.  (How has it been that long already?!)  However, if you asked him, he wouldn’t be so expressive about this news because he will always have cancer and it will never go away.  But with his type of cancer being in complete total remission means that the cancer cannot be detected at all, even when they do the most extensive tests to look for it.  That, in my book, is beyond amazing!

I’m still working on my One Little Word and inviting grace and gratitude into my life.  However, I hope this word becomes a little more apparent in my daily activity.  I’ve gotten so used to bad and scary things happen in my life (4 deaths in 11 months, multiple cancer scares, transplants, etc.)  that when the good and happy come along I forget to be grateful.  And things are really good and really happy right now.  I’m grateful for that!

Week Ten
March 9, 2013

I found this great piece of art this week at a clothing store that clearly embraces their Christian background.  I knew I had to get this because my one little word this year is grace and this will be a daily reminder (and a yearly reminder) that I'm inviting grace into my life now, in 2013, and forever.

Project Life 2013 | Week Eight

Welcome to Project Life Week Eight!

This week was simple.  Just what I needed!

Mom and I both read Safe Haven and we had a date to see the movie together.  It was good, but I was slightly let down…  I added the movie poster and our ticket stubs to document this event.  The 3x4 pockets are some random things that happened throughout the week.  Bits of pieces of life that are unique to this week.  On the bottom I put two 3x4 photos together to show a before and after of a new project mom and I are doing.  We want to reorganize and declutter our lives so I’m following The Larson Lingo’s idea of 40 Bags in 40 Days, but ours will be 40 Bags in 4 Months.  This week marks the beginning!  The photo next to our 40 Bags is an internet photo about a restaurant that burned down on the Plaza, a place we like to visit every month or so.  We never ate at the restaurant that burned down, but it looked like a really great place and it’s so sad to see that it is now gone.

This weeks song was We Both Know by Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw (from the movie Safe Haven).  This side isn’t’ too exciting.  We had a snow day on Thursday and Friday and were cooped up in the house.  Of course, there was some paper shredding and snuggling from Abby and game playing with mom.  And of course a few snow/ice photos too!

Project Life 2013 | Week Seven

Welcome to week seven.

This week was a REALLY good week.

This week we found out at dad’s 180 day post transplant appointment that he is in total complete remission!  At his 100 day post transplant (November 2012) he was still considered remission, but it was only deep remission, which is one step down.  Thank you God!  On the bottom left corner are some notes that one of our oncologists wrote.  Such good news needed to be documented!  The bottom right card is some old stickers I had on hand and the arrow stamp is from studio calico.

I have another insert this week, my 12of12 grid.  It was also the day we found out about dad’s news!  Such a special day!  And I’m so glad to have it in my 12of12!

 The story/text about my 12th.

The right side stayed pretty simple. I added a little a few things from Ali Edwards One Little Word prompt.  I am just now finally getting around to this prompt.  Oops!  Since Valentine’s Day was this week I added a few ‘love’ things to document the holiday.  The song this week was Wanted by Hunter Hayes.  The love quote is from a free printable from paper coterie from a long time ago.  (I think it was around last May.)

Project Life 2013 | Week Six

Welcome to Project Life Week Six.  Because I finally received the last piece of this week I can now share my pages with you.
This week was my birthday week.
The left side is pretty simple.  I made a little filler about the superbowl with the final scores added.  I made the majority of the 3x4 slots about birthday related events; photos, notes, etc.  I asked mom and dad to write a little something for my birthday.  There is one note on this side and one the other.  I love having their handwriting in this book too!  On the bottom, there is a little note about mom’s class singing Happy Birthday to me.  So nice!
I added an insert this week.  Our mailman (a family friend and used to deliver mail with my dad) brought over her saved copy of my birth announcement my parents mailed out 24 years ago.  I absolutely loved reading what mom wrote on the side.  I am so glad our mailman gave this back to us.  It is definitely something I will treasure forever. I also added a photo that was included in the birth announcement. (I only showed one side, keeping the personal stuff private.)
I added foam stickers on the outside of a pocket.  They would have gone inside but I couldn't get them in a straight line so they went on the outside.  Still has the same affect.
The birthday celebrations continue on this page.  The other photos on this page include our morning over at my grandparent’s house during another estate sale preparation.  This weeks song was Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars, seemed fitting for a birthday week.  The last photo was some fun with one of my favorite families ever!  I was trying to get a photo with the kids and their dog, Millie totally photo bombed us!
