12of12 | September 2016

01.  Getting ready for work.
02.  My love bugs.
03.  Breakfast.
04.  D has been having an obsession with teddy grahams lately.  He probably eats a box a week.
05.  Heading home.
06.  Mr. Rory.
07.  Playing with May in the yard.  She had a lot of wiggles to get out.  And I LOVE this photo of her.
08.  Cuddles with Moe.  He is such a momma's boy and I love it.
09.  Dinner prep and help by these two.
10.  One of our favorite meals.
11.  Walked with Puckett and it got dark on us.  The one downside to fall and Christmas and cooler weather.
12.  Relaxed with the hubby when I got home.

Such a boring work day.  Such is life.

Summer Bucket List Recap

0

I'm not going to lie, this project was a little redundant to my 52 List.  But, I felt I needed to do a summer list because I have for the last few years.  I'm a little sad that I didn't do every thing on this list.  I made it simple...only up to 14 things - one for each week that is 'summer'.  And yet I didn't complete it.  Oh well.  10 out of 14 isn't too terrible.  There is always next year!

1.  #100happydays Vol 3 |7.6.16
02.  Chase Bubbles | I never got around to buying a bubble machine for my dogs.  And Abby broke her's last year.  I really wanted to see if my dogs would be interested in it.  Guess I'll have to find out next year.
03.  Dog Park | With Moe tearing his ACL, I didn't want to risk taking him to the dog park and playing too hard.  So we skipped it this year.
04.  Go to the Missouri State Fair | August was SO busy for us.  We needed a 'down' weekend and it happened to be during the fair.  (We were out of town the first weekend of the fair.)  Next year for sure!
05.  Golf Trip | 8.14.16
06.  Healing Trip | 7.14.16
07.  Hike a Trail | 6.3.16
08.  Make Ice Cream every Weekend in Summer | 9.4.16
09.  Marti Family Trip | 8.7.16
10.  Plant Flowers | 6.8.16
11.  Play in the Puppy Pool | 6.12.16
12.  Stargazing Date | Hoping to do this during our one year anniversary trip.
13.  Watch a Sunrise and Sunset in the Same Day | 8.4.16

14.  Watch Fireworks | 7.4.16

52 List : Twenty Six Completed: Make Ice Cream

Oh man, this was probably one of my favorite things to do this summer.  Make ice cream every weekend as much as possible.  I knew life would be busy, but I wanted to make sure I really utilized my ice cream maker this summer.

My biggest regret about this is that I never made homemade ice cream for dad.  The ice cream maker came from my parents as a bridal shower gift and I was too stubborn to get it out before we were married and I didn't want to make it during the cold months.  It had to be during the summer and dad didn't make it that long.  (Note to self - when you want to do something-do it.  Don't create stupid time frames.)

I don't have photos of each kind I made, but this is what we tired this summer:
Vanilla - nothing can top a good homemade vanilla ice cream
Triple chocolate - we aren't big fans of chunks of chocolate in our ice cream.  it was a little too rich
Cookies and Cream - this one actually almost topped the vanilla.  and I don't usually like cookies and cream.
Salted Caramel - good, but D and mom liked it more than I did.  I'm like my dad.  I prefer plain, unless it's the green kind.
Mint Chocolate Chip - so good!!!  I didn't find a recipe that looked good so I improvised.  I took the cookies and cream recipe,  used mint oreos instead of regular, added mint extract and green food coloring.  Yum!
Butter pecan - The recipe didn't come from Kitchen-Aid and so it was gritty and not as good, in my opinion.  I'd rather buy it than make it.

36|52 : Sunflowers

Week Thirty Six
September 3, 2016

I heard about this sunflower field near the town my mom went to college.  I've always wanted to see a sunflower field and they are one of my mom's favorite flower so I knew it wouldn't be too hard to convince her (and D) to go.  Plus, we didn't have any plans for the long weekend anyway, so why not make some?! HA!

We headed there in the late afternoon and had an incredible dinner at a restaurant mom picked out.  I think she is already counting down days before we can head back there again.

I've never experienced anything quite like this.  There were flowers (40 acres, to be exact) everywhere.  And the amount of people it brought out was unimaginable.  This is someone's field and it looked similar to a bunch of people at a pumpkin patch.

These photos are some of my favorite from the year.  I'm so glad we went...I saw on Facebook a few days later that they had to shut down because of the amount of people there and there were apparently a few wrecks. Yikes!

I so hope they will be open again next year.  I think this could become a yearly tradition.

52 List : Twenty Five : 12 Dates: August : Top Gun Drive In Movie

Our town just started to offer a free drive in movie once a month.  They show old movies, nothing that has come out in the last decade.  When I saw they were going to show D’s favorite movie, I knew we had to go.

^^Such a strange looking photo.  Guess my iPhone at night through our car window wasn't the best idea...

We spent all morning at our company picnic at the zoo so by the time out date came around, we were pretty exhausted.  Thankfully this date didn’t require too much of us.  It was hot and sticky and the movie started a lot later than I thought it would.  But we talked and had some really good laughs.  (D’s face while I tried to get a photo of the 2 of us….he was making a goofy face and then I caught him mid blink.  HILARIOUS!!!)
