Around here

We will just call this month the sick month.  At least that is what it felt like when you are sick for an entire week and then break out into a rash all over because you are allergic to the antibiotics you were on.  Thankfully it ended on a little nicer note with Thanksgiving.

Project Life 2013 | Week Forty Five and Forty Six

Hello Week Forty Five and Forty Six (November3-16)!

The left side is Week Forty Five.  It was a slow week and not much happened.  Mom and I had a little date while dad went to Mayo Clinic again.  I also had the beginning of a cold brewing.

The right side is Week Forty Six.  I was sick this week.  Really sick.  And then I broke out into a rash.  So not fun.  But it is a part of life.  Saturday I began to feel a little bit better and I went to a College Football Game with Dakota and his friends.  It was a big rival game that his school he graduated from played in.  And they won, big time.  It was fun.  I, however, was still heavily drugged so that made it a little interesting….  But the main thing is that they won!  Yay!

Meeting Joshua Radin

Week Forty Seven
November 21, 2013

It was the first night of ‘winter weather’ this year.  It was cold and rainy (which turned a little icy) and we had an hour and a half drive ahead of us to go to a concert.  D was supposed to go with me but couldn’t so mom took his place.   She was not happy about driving in the bad weather, so my dad decided he would drive us and hang out in Lawrence while we went to the concert.

When we got ready to leave the house, our car had a nice layer of ice covering it.  Mom and I decided the trip wasn’t worth it, but dad was adamant in going.  So we all hoped into the car and prayed we wouldn’t hit any ice as we drove to Kansas.  But that is the kind of dad I have.  The one that will drive an hour and a half just to wander around a little town and sit at a diner for 3 hours while mom and I go to a concert.  And then drive us back home.  (Mom went to college there and she began dating my dad while she was there so it was fun for them to see how much the town has changed.  And it made the 3 hour wait for my dad a little more bearable.  But still….)

The concert was for Matt Nathanson, one of my favorite singers.  I had seen him in concert 4 times prior to this concert.  When I bought the tickets back in June I had no idea that another one of my favorite singers, Joshua Radin, would be opening.  Double plus!

So, we get to the concert and the opening act, Joshua Radin, was already singing.  He was incredible!  And after he performed he told the audience to come see him at the back table, right where mom and I were standing.  So we hop in line and get a photo with him.  IT.WAS.AWESOME!

A few minutes later, Matt got up on stage and rocked.  Out of all 5 times I’ve seen him perform, this was definitely my favorite.  He sang all my favorite songs and you could tell he was having a lot of fun with our audience.  It was an awesome night!

Week Forty Six
November 13, 2013

This has been a rough week health wise for me.  I spent four days in bed watching old episodes of One Tree Hill and taking my temperature every other hour and attempting to keep food in.  The day of this photo I went to work and made it half a day before needing to go home and take a 3 hour nap.
Ugh so not fun.

Project Life 2013 | Week Forty Four

Hello Week Forty Four!

This week was dad's birthday and he went to Mayo Clinic to discuss his case.  It didn't go well and he came home the following day (but ended up going again in a few weeks).

The right side is all about fall and the pretty colors.  I left it pretty simple and let the photos speak for themselves.

Project Life 2013 | Week Forty Three

Hello Week Forty Three!

This week I had pink eye.  So not fun.  I didn't have much content since I worked and then would keep low in the evening to recover.

This week I used the Midnight core kit and a embellishments from freckled fawn and studio calico kits. The white diagonal stripes are painted on a transparency sheet.  I was going to save it for my December Daily project, but I'll probably just make a new one.  I love the see thru effect.

12of12 | November 2013

It is inevitable, at least one of the twelves in each year I am stuck at home sick.  Swollen lymph nodes that make if difficult to swallow, a 100 degree fever, and a little vomiting.
Awesome.
01.  Morning sunshine through closed curtains.
02.  Day 4 of laying in bed.
03.  One of my nurses checking in on me.
04.  Attempted some soup for lunch.
05.  She thought I should share.
06.  3 seasons in 4 days.
07.  Bed head.
08.  Dad checking out a cool bird that was feeding under our pine tree in the backyard.  He called me out to come see it.  (He forgot to take one of the lens caps off too.)
09.  More entertainment for the sick.
10.  Nap time.
11.  Never too far out of reach.
12.  Goodnight world.

Project Life 2013 | Week Forty Two

Hello Week Forty Two (October 13-19)!

I so love this week, even though I struggled this week too.  That part I so do not love.  But as far as this spread goes, I love it.

The week started off great.  Rory and I had a very fun play date Sunday morning.  (Dakota was playing video games.)  I think we have a ninja cat!  He was doing all sorts of jumps and flips.

That quote from my mom about me being like my dad just makes me happy!  Especially with what will unfold in the rest of the week….

There have been some really stunning sunrises lately and I’ve become obsessed with capturing them while I get into my car to go to work each morning.

The notes made this week include a quote from our new owner at work, discussions about what is next in dad’s battle with cancer, and the awful day that was Friday.  To which dad said, “Well you ALMOST got into a wreck and you ALMOST blew up at work, but you didn’t so it was a good day.”  Yeah, where is that positive attitude when we are disusing cancer
treatment!?   Boys….

The bottom part of the right side is a few photos from our fall social for Junior League.  We had a bonfire and hayride for all the leaguer’s kids.  I was in charge of taking photos and when I posted them on facebook I got a great response!  It was definitely a great feeling!

Hugs

Week Forty Four
October 28, 2013

Hugging my dad as he leaves for Mayo Clinic.
It was a fluke that I captured this photo.
But, to me, it is perfection.
We hugged just a little longer than normal.
And both said I love you.
He said have a good rest of the day at work.
And I said let us know when you get there.
Then we both got into our cars
And drove down the highway in opposite directions
As tears streamed down my cheek.

Project Life 2013 | Week Forty One

Hello Week Forty One (October 6-12)!

The week was also the 12th so I included an insert for my 12of12.  This one was extra fun because the 12th was on a weekend, my favorite!  I especially like this month’s grid because all the important people are represented.   Mom, Dad, Abby, Dakota, and Rory.

This week was just a normal one.  Some changes at work began to take place.  Dakota was out of town for a night so I got to spend time with Rory.  Abby had a very fun afternoon playing with a peanut butter container.  Fall has started to take place.  Dad had the surgery in his  esophagus to have precancerous cells burned out.  You know, because that is so normal.

Pink

Week Forty Three
October 24, 2013

This week was rough in a difference sense.  I some how picked up pink eye and had a very swollen face for 4 days.  Tuesday was the worst day and I kept a washcloth over it for the entire day.  Surprisingly I wasn’t given any antibiotics and just had to let it run its course.  I was able to work all week but took it easy every afternoon and just watched movies.  In this photo you can’t really tell I was sick; it was taken after the majority of the swelling went away and I was well on the way to recovery.

Project Life 2013 | Week Forty

Hello Week Forty (September 29-October 5, 3012)!

There was really only one big thing that happened this week and it was our annual pumpkin patch outing.  It is one of my favorite traditions and like always, we had a lot of fun.

The left side has the date card and Ms. Abby.  I cut up a large photo of all of us on our outing.  Love it!

The right side has more photos from the patch.  I love the smile on dad's face in his photo.  I included the flyer for the annual fall party at my grandparent's old neighborhood.
