Magic in France

Week Thirty
July 24, 2015

This week was an adventure of a lifetime.  Dakota and I got a (pretty much free) trip to France.  He was doing some training at our work's facility in France and I joined him on his trip.  I had never been outside of the country and never dreamed I would ever go.  But this trip, I couldn't pass up.  It was busy, and mostly work related, but it was also magical.

More photos coming soon.

Map Project

I found this idea on pinterest and loved it!  The other people just highlighted some of their favorite trips, but I want to visit each state with D and this is going to be an awesome way to document that.  I can just imagine what this will look like 30 years from now.  It's going to document all the stages in our lives; dating, engaged, married, kids.  It's so exciting to imagine how it will all unfold.

I still need to print off Iowa, but other than that, this is where we've been together.  And I'm trying to decide if I want to include the month and year on each photo or just let it be....thoughts?!

Finish the Porch

We began remodeling the porch back in March.  Three months later, it's {almost} finished.  And it looks incredible!

Before

Before

After

After

Next up, waiting for the furniture.  It is purchased, but we are waiting for it to be made.  And we need to update the mailbox and possibly get a new screen door.  I can't wait to enjoy this space!

12of12| July 2015

01.  We have been running so hard lately with very little sleep.  We didn't wake up until 10:45am.
02. "You're up!!!"
03.  Breakfast.  D gave me the funniest look when I took this photo.  I don't think he will ever get used to my camera.
04.  His breakfast.
05.  Watering the flowers.
06.  It was ssssooooo hot outside, but it's not raining so I guess I'll take it....for a day or two.
07.  A late lunch at Galvin's for D's sister's birthday celebration.
08.  Came home and took a nap because I'm still so tired.
09.  Went over to my parent's house to find dad grilling chicken.
10.  The lilies.
11.  Took a short ride after watching True Detective.
12.  Bedtime.

Spent the day sleeping and eating.  Not too shabby.  Unfortunately, Monday made up for it and was a very rough day....

Week Twenty Eight
July 6, 2014

My love bug is 14!  Oh how I miss those puppy breath days.

Story:  It took a few tired to get this photo.  She did not want to participate and look at the camera, she just wanted to sleep.  After about 3 failed attempts, I told her she just has to pose for 1 photo and then she could take her nap...and then I got this photo.  She may be a {going} deaf dog, but she sure knows english!

Three Months

Last month ended on a roll and so this month started with quite a bang.  And then it stopped for a few weeks.  Now, it’s starting to roll again.

-   -We ordered our proposal photo in large format.  This was my ‘birthday gift’ from D.  It was something we wanted to have in our house, but also something we want to showcase at the wedding.  And I just love that photo of us.
-   -We picked out our music for the progression, recessional, and when grandparents are walked down the aisle.  We also fine-tuned the schedule for the day.  It is pretty much done, but it was suggested I plan the photos out in more detail.
-   -I ordered our invitations!  They came in and look fabulous!  It took me about 2 hours to figure out how to use the pen tool on my silhouette machine.  I couldn’t quite figure out how I wanted the address part of the text to look, but I went with how it was printing (with double lines) and I kinda like it.   My goal is to have all the invitations addressed and stuffed by the end of next week.  And then stamp and add the return labels when I get back from vacation.  This one is a big deadline and I have a lot going on between now and the deadline, so I really need to keep up with it.  So far, so good!  And to show my nerdy-ness, I cannot wait to get all the RSVPs back.  Ha!
-  -I ordered the last part of the girl’s bridal gifts.  I can’t wait to get this item and share it with them.  I think (hope) they really like it as much as I do!
-  -D’s wedding band came in.  The brush/finish didn’t come in correctly, so they had to send it back to be how I wanted it.  On the inside, I hand-wrote a message to him.  He got to try on the band (and it fits!), but can’t read the inside (or know that it is in my own handwriting) until the wedding day.  I think he will like it J  It turned out really great!
-  -I scheduled my hair trial and make-up trial (the original one got re-scheduled)
-  -I e-mailed the guest list for the first 2 bridal showers.
-  -We had our monthly meeting with our pastor.
-  -I scheduled the second tasting with caterer.
-  -Ballroom classes have been scheduled.
-  -We met with our florist, aka my future mother-in-law.  I can’t wait to see all those flowers together.  It’s really going to pull the reception together.

Dreams :
-The guests arrived a day before and since I had my dress we went ahead with the wedding.  So we got married with me in my wedding dress and D in a blue t-shirt and jeans.  We had the real ceremony with the bridal party the next day with everyone dressed up.

Realizations:
-There are some friends I haven’t seen in a long time (over a year) and I will see them in 4 months!
-In 4 months my bedroom will no longer be my bedroom.
-As much as I love having the extra time with my parents and I really do enjoy living with them, I’m also looking forward to the time when I don’t have to say goodnight to D as he drives back to his house.

Buy D's Ring

His ring finally came in!  It originally came in with the wrong brushing, but they got it fixed and it looks awesome.  It also has engraving on the inside.  He has seen his ring, and it fits him, but he wasn't allowed to see the inside.  I can't wait for him to read it, I think it will be a nice little surprise!

And I love how excited he was to try it on. He even asked me if he had to take it off.
Less than 100 days, D, less than 100 days!

Proposal Recreation

Week Twenty Six
June 28, 2015

 Our nephew drew our portraits.
In order from left to right, Dakota - Me - Josh.
We decided it's a recreation of our proposal photo since Dakota is shorter than me.  He also has 4 hands now.
